The European Council was established during the meetings at the December 1974 Paris Summit by the President of the French Republic at that time, Giscard d'Estaing. Which was described as a body that ‘’shall provide the Union with the necessary impetus for its development’’ in Lisbon treaty, 2007.
The council decided it would gather twice a year. It was established as an authority to discuss Community affairs and issues regarding European political areas in an intergovernmental approach. The agenda item of the European council at MUNSA’22 is addressing the question of the current situation of refugees in Europe.
This is an ongoing problem that is very crucial for the sake of humanity knowing that the refugees are seeking protection and basic needs, they are not accepted by both citizens and the governments itself to this day. The delegates will be discussing this up-to-date sensitive agenda with prioritizing the safety of the refugees. We trust our delegates with handling this sensitive situation in the most emphasizing way possible and finding the heart of this ongoing agenda.
