Futuristic UNEP

Founded in 1972, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been the global authority that sets the environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

UNEP’s aim is to ensure leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by informing, inspiring, and enabling people to improve their standards of life without getting along with future generations. So, in this year's MUNSA, in the committee of Futuristic UNEP, the delegates will be solving a variety of issues. The issues start with the discovery of a uranium deposit on the border of Venezuela and Brazil. And not surprisingly, a border division problem shows up. The hurdles continue with the civil war in Venezuela between the followers of Nicolas Maduro and Juan Guaido.

During these events, one of the parties in the civil war constructs a surreptitious nuclear power plant and overloads it in order to solve specific problems. But one day, the power plant can not face it anymore and steeply explodes. This explosion causes an unstoppable forest fire in the Amazon basin. The earth has never seen such a natural disaster like this before. This is the meeting in which delegates will try their best to save South America. It is expected from the delegates of this futuristic committee to find effective and reasonable solutions to the environmental crises that occurred after this catastrophe.
